West Fresno is a community in need of many resources for the low income families located in the local area. As a non-profit organization we strive to meet the needs of our community members here in West Fresno. As a result, the “Watch Us Grow”, community garden was established at the West Fresno Boys & Girls club in April 2008. The use of this garden is geared toward obesity prevention of our youth. The garden project provides children and parents the education needed to help them live a more fulfilling lifestyle; while also allowing them the opportunity to grow fruits and vegetables and use them I their own meals.

In October 2011, the West Fresno Family Resource Center had the opportunity to formally open the “Growing Hope” community garden. This garden was established to target all members of the West Fresno community; whether is a child, young adult, or faith based resident. The goal again is to teach individuals about the benefits of growing their own food and eating healthy. While also focusing on the aspect of mental health and reducing stress in one’s daily lifestyle.  We all have to deal with stress sometime but there are also many ways to deal with it and the “Growing Hope” garden may just be the place for you.

Come out and be a part of the change in our beloved West Side Community.
